When Tempted To Do Wrong

"So be careful how you live.  Don't live like fools, but like those who are wise.  Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don't act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.  Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life.  Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts.  And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ"

Ephesians 5: 15-20 (NLT)

When we read the Bible and meditate upon it, we can clearly see the will of God for our lives.  It's laid out in plain view, so we don't have excuses to live the way we want.  Our flesh may want to do things or say things that are not pleasing to the Lord.  We must be on guard against its evil desires.

Those who are wise will trust God and be led by Him.  They will consult the Word of God in any and all difficult decisions that they make.  We can be pulled into so many different directions in these last and evil days.  We may be tempted to do what everybody else is doing.  But, God's people is a set apart people.  We are not to do and act as the world does.  We should do a self-examination daily.  We have to stand before God for ourselves.  When we do things that are not pleasing to the Lord, He will reveal it to us.  Our conscience will bother us.  But, when your conscience is seared, you no longer feel that you are doing wrong and will continue to do so.  Brothers and Sisters, we have to guard against this with everything within us.  When we come to Jesus in the confession of our sins, He will forgive us.  But, if we continue to sin and think that nothing is wrong then we walk as fools.  We are only fooling ourselves.

"There hath no temptation taken you but that is common to man:  but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it"

I Corinthians 10:13 (KJV)

When you are tempted to do or say something that is wrong, ask yourself, what would Jesus do?  Would He speak this way?  Would He behave this way?  Be honest with yourself and the Holy Spirit will lead and guide you.  Don't give place to the Devil.  There are temptations everywhere, but we are never tempted beyond what we can bear.  The Lord will always provide a way of escape.  It is up to us to take it.  True freedom lies within the Word of God.
