SHOWING GRATITUDE TO GOD

"And it came to pass, as He went to Jerusalem, that He passed through the midst of  Samaria and Galilee.  And as He entered into a certain village, there met Him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off.  And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.  And when He saw them, He said to them, Go show yourselves' to the priests.  And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.  And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks:  and he was a Samaritan.  And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed?  but where are the nine?  There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.  And He said to him,  Arise, go your way:  your faith has made you whole"
St. Luke 17: 11-19

It is so easy for us to come and ask God for things, but how often do we just come to Him and say, "LORD, I just want to give you thanks and praise for what You have already done.  I'm not coming to ask You for anything, but I want to offer you praise for what you have already given to me and the prayers You have already answered."   It's a good thing when we approach the LORD in prayer to first come to Him with thanksgiving.

"Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise.  Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.  For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting:  and His truth endures to all generations"
Psalm 100: 4-5

The story of the ten lepers in the book of Luke is a wonderful illustration of how we should offer thanks to God when He does so many great things in our life.  "There were ten cleansed but where are the other nine", Jesus asked as only one stranger returned to give thanks.  How often do we forget to just give thanks for all that has already been given to us?  Has our prayers just become about asking for things and never giving thanks?  How would we be accepted by our friends and loved ones if all we did was asked for things and never showed appreciation for what we were already given?  If you were given a gift by someone do you remember to say, 'thank you" or do you approach them and ask, 'what are you going to give me next?'  How much greater should we show gratitude to Jesus for all the things He has already done for us.

The LORD is so good and merciful to us and it puts a smile on His face to give us the desires of our heart.  But, like any good parent would, He delights when we come to Him in thanksgiving and with a heart of gratitude.

GIVING YOUR ALL TO JESUS

"And Jesus sat opposite the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury:  and many that were rich cast in much.  And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.  And He called to Him His disciples, and says to them, "Verily I say to you, that this poor widow has cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:  For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living""
Mark 12: 41-44

This morning during my prayer the LORD laid this Scripture upon my heart about the widow who cast in the two mites into the treasury and it took on a whole different meaning to me and I will pose this question to you?  What is the best thing that you could ever give to God?  I know that there will be different answers to this question, but as for me, as I laid there and cried out in tears to my LORD I said to Him, "Jesus, I offer to you my whole body, soul, mind, and all that I have".  I raised my hands to the LORD and I said to Him, "Jesus, I give to you my life.  Use me for Your glory.  I'm putting in everything that I personally own".  This may make no sense to many of you, but to me it became abundantly clear that having a relationship with the LORD Jesus is the best we could ever give to Him.  Giving of our abundance in riches could never measure what we could offer by giving to Jesus a life of service and obedience to Him.

"Master, which is the great commandment in the law?  Jesus said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like to it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets""
Matthew 22: 36-40

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world:  but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God"
Romans 12: 1-2

"And Samuel said, Has the LORD as great delight in burned offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD?  Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams"
I Samuel 15:22

So you see, what God desires most from us is obedience in serving Him and giving of our whole selves to Him.  Nothing could ever be more important than that.  It's perfectly fine to give of our material wealth, but our own personal relationship and commitment to Him is far greater.  There is no monetary value that could ever equal that.  When you set aside time each day to pray and meditate on His Word you are giving much more than you could ever give from your pocket.  As I so often do,  I would like to encourage you to make some time daily to feast at the table of Jesus Christ.  Begin today by setting aside some time for prayer and bible study.  As I have found out it is the most important meal of the day.  When I start my day off with prayer and study it sets in motion the wheels for my entire day.  I know that no matter what I may face that day that God has already given me the victory.  All battles in this life are won on our knees.  This is the only way to fight Satan.  When you give your all to Jesus He will give His all for you.

I would love to hear from you.  Write to me at dailymannafromheaven@gmail.com  and send any prayer requests.

MEDITATING ON THE WORD OF GOD

"But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in His law does he meditate day and night"
Psalm 1:2

Hello Friends,

It is the start of another week that the LORD has allowed us to enter and I'm so thankful, and being in His will I get to blow out another candle this Thursday, February 12th, as I celebrate my birthday.  As I look back over the past year I can see clearly how much my family and I have been blessed.  There were many trials and days when the storm raged violently, but here I am sitting here and writing to you of just how awesome a God we serve and He's ever merciful.  'Through it all', as the late Andre Crouch sang, 'I've learned to trust in Jesus; I've learned to trust in God.  Through it all, I've learned to depend upon His Word.'

Nothing thrills me as much as getting alone with the LORD each morning that He wakes me.  His Word is the food that I crave and the more that I eat it the more I want.  In my prayer closet I am surrounded by His Word and I saturate myself  in it.  I can be found opening it throughout the day.  I carry my bible with me in my car and I read while my husband or I run errands during the week.  My personal ipod is filled with the Word, whether it be in song or preaching.  You see, I just can't get enough.  I want to always be where the LORD can talk to me and I want to be always actively listening.  The Word of God is our road map.  It's the sort of food we should always crave and take delight in.

As we enter this second week in February, I would like to encourage you to set aside some time each day to meditate upon God's Word.  Get alone in a quiet place and let Him speak to you.  There's just a joy and peace that you will feel and you will discover how blessed it truly is to be in the presence of God.

"And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper"
Psalm 1:3

Friends, what a wonderful blessing and promise from God.  You won't have to wonder if He is with you or not for He promises not only to be with you, but that you will prosper in all that you set your mind to do according to His will.  I pray that you all have a blessed week.  You won't go wrong if you soak in all the Word of God.

BE STILL FOR GOD FIGHTS YOUR BATTLES

"And Moses said to the people, Fear you not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will show to you to day:  for the Egyptians whom you have seen to day, you shall see them again no more for ever.  The LORD shall fight for you, and you shall hold your peace"
Exodus 14: 13-14

The word of the LORD came to me this morning that "I will fight for you just hold your peace."  What a great consolation from God to know that I need not worry because He fights on my behalf.  When you feel as if you are trapped between the Devil and the Red Sea realize who is fighting for you.  It is easy to start focusing on all our problems.  This is what Satan wants.  He wants to make you feel that you are defeated and therefore put all sorts of ideas and thoughts in your head that you are all alone and that nobody cares.  The Devil is the father of lies.  When he comes whispering these things to you the only way to defeat him is with the word of God.

"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ"
2 Corinthians 10: 4-5

There may be times when you feel you walk alone and that no one else could possibly understand what you're going through.  But, there is someone who understands.  Jesus Christ knows and sees all.  In these moments it's good to just get alone and meditate on His Word and soon you will hear Him speak and your soul will be healed.  It's the Devil's job to beat us down and try to get us to doubt God. You have heard the saying of "playing the Devil's advocate".  Realize that Satan plants people and things just at the right moments you are going through your storms to try and get you to doubt what the LORD has already said.  That's why it is so important to get rooted and grounded in the Word of God.  Be still and know that God fights all your battles.

Don't stop praying.  Don't stop running.  Don't stop fighting.  You must keep moving forward.  Even the Red Sea couldn't contain the Almighty God.  There are no problems you are facing that can stand against God.  Just keep your eyes focused on Jesus for He controls all your storms.  Stay in the boat and don't jump ship.  You will hear Him speaking to the winds and waves, "Peace Be Still".

Friends, I want to encourage you today to realize that the LORD understands better than any of us ever could.  Sometimes it's not good to tell anybody but Him.  If you are faced with anything today that seem to be overwhelming you then why not trust that there is someone fighting on your behalf and His name is Jesus.  Don't give in to the lies of the Devil for he has already been defeated.  The LORD fights your battles.  You need only be still.
