FOLLOWING THE ROAD MAP

Read (Joshua 1: 1-18)

“There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life:  as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.  I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee”  (Joshua 1:5)

Reading Joshua 1:5 I recall a conversation that my sister and I had with my pastor the day we buried our dad.  This was in May of 2007.  As we sat around her dinner table and talked of the goodness of God, and how He’d moved so mightily throughout her life, she encouraged us, as she always did.  “Daughter, when you step out to obey Jesus, there’s nothing that He won’t do for you.  You will be blessed, and God will open many doors for you.”

God worked many miracles, signs, and wonders through Prophetess Mother A.B. Jackson.  She passed away in June of 2012, but the same Jesus that she served is still on the scene.  He is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.  The Lord spoke to Joshua, “Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.  Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses” (Joshua 1: 2-3)

Joshua had to step out on faith.  God had given the children of Israel the law (Torah or the Pentateuch).  “Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee:  turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.  This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein:  for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” (Joshua 1: 7-8)

Though we may not be called to do the same work as the ones who taught and instructed us, God still has a specific plan and purpose for our lives.  We too must follow the road map that He has laid out.  There will be battles to fight, and Jordan Rivers to cross, but the Lord will be there every step of the way.

“Have not I commanded thee?”  (Joshua 1:9)

God has ordained, equipped, and qualified you for the journey.  Whatever it is that He has placed on your heart to do, walk in faith and obedience to His word.  He will not fail you!
